>>5355320With everyone shooting each other sidewards glances, no one really wanting to volunteer, it seems that you’ll have to take the initiative, and you know the one person who’s more than perfect for the job.
“We’ll have Matt get Eddie’s body.” You declare, then immediately brace yourself for the storm of complaints on hAvInG tO dO tHe sHiTtY jOb.
But such complaints never come, the expression on Matt’s face remaining unchanged. “Fine by me.”
“Come again?” You thought he would’ve thrown a tiff over having to go with the Healer.
“The rest of you will screw it up royally.” While the rest of you guys have your own strengths, for situations that require a bit more finesse, Matt’s like a precision knife when it boils down to it.
“He’s right.” Eddie’s screen flashes as if in agreement. “The highest probability of success lies with Matt. Second lies with Pharos with ten-point-five-nine-eight-five percent less of a chance.”
“And where’d you get those numbers?” Valjean wonders, more curious than doubtful.
“Self-created algorithms.” Eddie returns. “One of the many perks of being a technopath.”
“Anyways,” Matt interrupts, scooting forwards against the table. “Let’s get back on topic here.” You don’t need to be told twice.
“Alright,” He starts, clearing his throat and gathering up his thoughts. “So when you guys go in, you’ll need to get Eddie’s program in the data center, which is separate from the main building.” On the phone, a miniature display of a blueprint flashes to life, a set of red dots indicating your assumed waypoints. “It’s going to be guarded, but if you do end up getting busted, which I highly doubt if you have Valjean…” He makes a motion towards the former Crux leader. “...then you’re going to need to really haul ass back to the containment center.”
“Not a problem.” Bernard dismisses that part of Matt’s concerns. “Cell three-twenty-four, right?” The blonde somehow had remembered that tidbit of information.
“You’re right, but there is a possibility Conduit might not be in his cell period.”
“Don’t remind me…” Eddie’s voice crackles from the phone.
