Despite officially abandoning the "Iscandarian Standard" laws for a Garmillan common law, the Empire in general has a culture of revering Iscandar, not as fanatically as their theocratic ancestors but still with a deep sense of humility. Most strikingly, this is exemplified with Abelt vam Dessler's infatuation with Iscandar, and eventually, one of the last three Iscandarians, Her Majesty Starsha mair Iskandar, last queen of the now defunct Iscandarian Empire. He himself is torn between his own raw idealism that has yet to fade even after a century of rule, and harsh realpolitik. Dessler strives for closer ties between the two planets, and openly supported the Late Iscandarian Empire's values of peace and compassion, and, pairing it with the ideals of Garmillan Exceptionalism, created an effective doctrine, that it is the sacred duty of the Garmillan people to spread these ideals throughout the galaxy, no matter the cost. Abelt vam Dessler has seen all the chapters of modern Garmillan history, from the Unification Wars, to the abolishment of official aristocracy, the first spaceship, the first Geshtam Drive, when the Ethereals invaded, and when Great Garmillas began its imperial ambitions, yet now he seemed to be cracking, and many scheme against him. There is an impression, that Dessler is now but a puppet ruler.
