>>5786146>>5786162"So why are you and the other three competing?" You ask, tilting your head. If this is such a cosmic event in both worlds, it makes sense that they would help each other out to resolve it instead of competing.
"A sensible question. Unfortunately, it's not possible. Our worlds are not alike. In your world, civilizations are man-made entities. Here, my kingdom is an innate feature of the world. If we are unsuccessful in retrieving these entities, they will stay in the hands of the other kingdoms until the next conflux. This affects you as well. As the balance of power between our kingdoms affects the reality of your world."
"Wait." You process what he said. "So what will happen if your kingdom wins? How will it affect my reality."
He sighs. "Well, understand that I am biased, but so are the other Regents. My kingdom represents ingenuity, honesty, and energy. My kingdom ruled over your world for one thousand years before the most recent reign of the Eastern Kingdom, the owner of the sword. That is why your world has fallen into such misery. If you join with me, we will liberate it and return your world to one of creativity and passion!" He does his best to sell you on his cause.
"So if I don't agree with your objective, is it too late for me to change sides?"
He blinks. "Know this boy, the other Kingdoms would not offer you this chance, but if you so wish to leave my service, I will allow it. However, it will be my only act of grace to you, if one of my other champions should find you, you will be shown no mercy."
"G-got it." You say awkwardly, and table the thought for now. "Anyway, what should I be looking for?"
The king nods, pleased that you didn't take him up on his offer. "There are two main ways you can further our cause. First, and most importantly, capturing the archetypes. Archetypes manifest in your world as creatures and individuals with awesome powers. To face an archetype head-on is folly, at least until you develop your skill. It's always best to have a plan. If you hear reports about strange things occurring which your world's logic cannot explain, there is a good chance an archetype is responsible. If you defeat an archetype, it will become captured in your staff. When you return here, I will extract it."
"I can come back here?" You ask, interrupting him before he can get to the second thing.
"Yes, during the full moon the liminal space creates a bridge between our worlds which you may use to come here. When you come here, time passes much more slowly than in your world. Less than a minute has passed since you entered the liminal space." He answers. "Anyways, the second thing is defeating champions from other kingdoms."
You suddenly wonder if you're passed out on the ground at your new job. Better hope not.
"Have I answered all of your questions?" He asks.
>Yes, take me back. >Yes, but I want to work for another kingdom. >No, (write in)
