“Continue reporting what you find, Samantha. At this point, since I cannot be there myself, the benefits outweigh the risks of them discovering me.”

At the back of the office, Clover stares up at the body, Officer McGruff at her side, mustering the courage to move closer. The girl was hanging from red threads, arms spread out to the sides, her straw-colored hair draping down to her chest. She’d been wearing a dark hoodie and a flowery-patterned skirt. The wolf-girl takes a shallow breath, before stepping closer. She hears something slide across the floor as her foot kicks something small. The wolf-girl looks down. It was a little box of matches.
Clover closes her eyes, trying extremely hard to not think about how gross what she was about to do is, before quickly patting over the hoodie’s large central pocket. Ignoring the texture of what lay underneath the fabric, she didn’t feel anything in there. She quickly steps back, shaking her hands to make them forget the sensation of what she just touched. Then, she furrows her brow, trying to put together what she knew.
