>>6293748Was this left open-ended on purpose? You got the feeling that there was no single right answer. Rather, you were likely being tested on the overall thoughtfulness of your response. If that were the case, then the best course of action was to really lay it on thick how much you’d care for the people of Morfis. And being a man of strength, you believed a king’s utmost responsibility was to safeguard his country from any danger. Knowing that time was running fast, you quickly begin penning your answer.
>The greatest responsibility that the King of Morfis has is to safeguard all his people. There are countless dangers in this world that seek to do them harm. A king must keep the deserts free of Terrors. He must end hostilities between Morfis and the Cult of the Serpent. And he must ensure that the common citizenry of this country are not trampled upon by an upper class of mages that regard them as cattle. After this competition, Morfis will enter the world stage. She will require a king that can look out for her best interests, and ensure that no harm comes to the nation or her people. You thought that was a pretty damn kingly answer! Did you believe it? Most of it, at least. But the overall sentiment was there. If Morfis was going to be your country, then you’d make damn sure that it was a place where people could live in peace.
“Time is up!” Stelios announces. “Drop your quills and place your papers face down so that we may collect them.”
The Yasha begin walking through the classroom, collecting tests from the remaining 29 contestants. Some try to yank their paper back at the last minute, suddenly unsure of their answers, but the Yasha do not allow them. When it is time for your own test to be collected, you happily hand it over. You didn’t think you got a perfect score, but all things considered, you probably didn’t do that bad either. Besides, it wasn’t as if elimination was on the line here.
“Grading will take but a moment. Feel free to talk amongst yourselves for the time being, but do not get up from your seats.” Stelios wags a finger. Him and his fellow Yasha take their place at the front of the classroom, and one by one, begin going through each exam.
Elric turns around from his seat to face you. The boy still had gore in his hair from the massacre that took place outside. He gives you a concerned look on his face. Familiar, but uncharacteristic for the being that was now inhabiting him.
“A-are you okay, Tristain?” Elric asks softly. “I could smell burning bacon. I figured that must have been your brain working on overdrive to try and solve a few simple questions? I know it’s tough when you have to solve problems without your axe.”
>“Like you have any room to speak, body snatcher.” You snarl. “If you weren’t inhabiting the biggest dork in two kingdoms you’d have been sweating. If a sword were capable of such a thing.”
