You spend a good few hours approaching in silence, the tension is palpable on the bridge, and everyone seems on edge, waiting if this is truly too good to be true, or if they just earned their retirements.

Escape pods are jettisoned, I am also reading superficial damage over the structure…the hangar appears to be open, hold one…not seeing any smaller signatures inside. It appears to be abandoned, sir !” With rising excitement, the crewman proclaims.
Laughing out loud, Stellan turns to you. “Hear that ! We’ve got ourselves a brand-new ship !”
“One presumedly out of ammo, no spacecraft squadron, and seeing as how its only got auxiliary power, probably a busted main reactor. Not to mention, the original owners might not be too pleased to learn their warship has been reclaimed by someone who’s not them.”
“Well, its not too bad. There’s still supplies in there we could salvage; my men are quite good at it. At the end of the day, it’s your choice. Based on the trajectory, the thing will smash into the moon given a year or two and there won’t be anything left, if you just want to leave it.”
You sigh. “What about crewing it ?”
“I can pull some of my men for it, it’ll fly. Hell, it won’t even do that too well, and it sure as hell won’t fight, but if we can get it back, it’s a ready-made ship all of our own.”
