But more than that, you were surprised how easily you dispatched the immortal pirate. You’ve seen Peter Pan fight before, and he definitely could’ve defeated him by himself. Was the boy just toying with the mustache twirling villain this entire time? You’d have to ask about that later. But for now, you’ll be moving onto your favorite part of the operation.
“Let’s go find that treasure!” you proudly announced.
—------
With Cat and Prowler here, finding the “hidden” treasure chest was easier than it should’ve been. It was honestly less of a treasure “chest” and more like a coffer. And considering the weight of it, this should prove to be a pretty decent haul.
Once all the kids were safely off the ship, took the time to scour the rest of the Jolly Roger for whatever riches that might be hiding. But your looting and plundering was promptly cut short when Anastasia directed your attention to a cluster of metal orbs that were hovering above the deck. Squinting at them, you quickly realized that they were cannonballs!
Just then, the Gambler’s Guess sailed up next to the Jolly Roger, and you saw none other than Pandora Peters at the helm.
“Let’s get a move on. The kid’s about to sink this vessel, and you don’t want to be on it when she does.” she warned.
None of you protested or dawdled when it came to evacuating the doomed vessel. Just as you’d guessed, the rest of the mutant children were on the Guess as well. Gordy was staring at Tossa as she closed her eyes to focus on manipulating the cannon-shot. Croaker had his arms crossed and was standing close to the railing, with Squirt standing right beside him, likely as a precaution. Grover was staring longingly at the Verdant Voyager, which was slowly disassembling itself as per his mental commands, its individual parts sinking into the briny depths, never to be seen again.
Peter Pan and his rescued Lost Boys stood over the collapsed form of their traitorous brother with anguished looks on their faces. Peter Pan was the only one who was making a half-decent attempt at keeping a brave face.
As soon as you were far enough, Tossa brought her arms down, sending the cannonballs hurtling through the floorboards. You all watched as the dreaded Jolly Roger sank into the ocean, filling with water and collapsing under its own weight.
No one cheered or celebrated. For this was just another day in Neverland. Hook and his merry crew would be back soon enough, and their ship would be in sailing condition when they next awoke. The only thing that really cheered you up was the sight of Black Cat popping the lock on the coffer. It was practically brimming with shimmering, golden coins!
The original Desperado Trinity had trouble keeping quiet after seeing that.
