A deal is made with the Toprocravic. Whenever one of their tribe seeks to join to Protavic, the sealskins shall be compensated for their departure. It is difficult to judge the value of a free person but typically, the beast-bringers offer a handful of pigs and an abundance of honey in exchange for each emigrant. This price is paid often enough that it has a significant impact on our tribe – but not so significant that the people have any difficulty surviving.
Unfortunately, this deal makes life among the beast-bringers seem less appealing to prospective emigrants. It bolsters the wealth of the Toprocravic, while the prosperity of the Protavic is diminished. Nevertheless, there are still plenty of sealskins who wish to abandon their tribe in favour of ours, and they bring their understanding of boats and fishing along with them.
A generation passes.
The Toprocravic emigrants remain a hot topic, for they bring their old ways with them. They prove their martial prowess to each other with seal-clubbing competitions, they pass on important lessons to future generations by carving pictograms into the bones of beasts, and they revere the great lake of Croglatol as the source of all life.
There are some among the Protavic who are intrigued by the culture of the sealskin emigrants, but there are far more who disapprove of their ways. If they are to become a part of the tribe, they should abandon their old ways and become beast-bringers, through and through. They believe it is wrong of these outsiders to glut themselves on the wealth of the tribe, while refusing to adopt its ways.
They could be assimilated. Like the Pragradravic who came before them, these emigrants must abandon their old ways. If they want to live among the Protavic, they must become Protavic.
They could be isolated. If they want to cling their old culture, so be it, but they will have to live apart from the rest of the tribe. That way, they will not be able to contaminate the rest of the clan with their peculiar ways.
Their culture could be accepted. Some of the traditionalists might be upset, but these emigrants should be allowed to remain true to themselves without suffering any repercussions.
Their culture could be integrated. There is obvious value in the ways of the Toprocravic. Their culture shall be incorporated into Protavic society and a new people shall be born from this fusion.
>Assimilate them.
>Isolate them.
>Accept their culture.
>Integrate their culture.
