“Is there some kind of training area for testing out what our gunpla can do?" Alex asks after a moment of pondering. "Yes! That's accessible from Missions HQ. You can customize the parameters for a mock AI battle to test out anything you could think of doing with your gunpla. Other players also use it to set custom mission paramters to train and prepare for certain events. You can set the difficulty level, how many enemies you face, time limit, and lots of other stuff! Would you like to try it?" "Hmm.. No, but that's good to know. For now, I think I'd rather explore the World, take our gunpla out for a test ride before doing anything too crazy” Alex answers. A part of him wanted to dive right into the combat aspect of the game since it’s what he really came here for, but he wanted to show Cassie the in-game world and give her something to look at that other than the dreary hospital walls. There’s nothing wrong with taking things slow anyway, right?
“You got it!” Mellow says with a spritely hop as she leads Alex to the portal that leads to the World beyond the central hub. He's given several choices on where to spawn, from thick forests, to arid deserts and even space stations. At your sister's behest, you chose some vast planes because she wanted to see flowers. The screen goes blank for a moment, and the next Alex finds himself materialized inside the cockpit of the GM. Three large screens in front display the view of the world around him as seen from the eyes of the GM’s optics. Through these screens he sees that he’s been dropped off on some vast planes with lush greenery and a beautiful blue sky as far as the eye can see. The HUD takes up portions of the screens, showing fuel meters, ammo counts, HP gauge, a mini map, and numerous other displays. He hears Cassie gasp in excitement as she shares your headset view through her own laptop monitor, and Alex can’t help but smile from it. Various buttons, panels and levers populate the rest of the cockpit, which Alex can reach out and interact with using his VR headset’s hand controllers. Very realistic and immersive, he can’t help but admit.
Mellow’s face pops up in a small square on the left hand screen, as if on cue as Alex wonders how exactly to control this thing. She happily goes over the controls and what each button does, while Alex silently takes it all in. He plays around with the control panel with Mellow’s guidance, and after a minute or so of running, jumping, and short boosts with the GM's veniers, Alex feels comfortable enough to take it a step further. He presses a button and pulls the throttle lever and he watches as his gunpla ascends, the sky slowly growing closer. “Wooooo, yes!!” You hear Cassie shout, clearly loving this.
