After thinking things over, you decided to remain in hiding, using the toppled chairs as cover. If those mercs were truly here to reclaim the suit, then you might just let them take a crack at it.
If anything, they should serve as a good distraction while you launch a surprise attack of your own.
The two’s argument went on for two more minutes, neither of them willing to back down from whatever it was that they were so passionate about. Finally, when it seemed like both had started to cool down a bit, several loud pops erupted from the upper floors.
Small, silvery canisters clattered onto the stage and right below it, flooding the theater with blinding smoke.
You suppressed a choking cough and quickly switched over to your thermal vision, regretting the fact that Max was still burning just as brightly as he had been before.
You heard shouting from both sides, and then, all hell broke loose. Shots rang out from behind, and you could see the figure beside Max raising his hands in defense. It didn’t seem like either were being affected by the Wild Pack’s bullets.
Suddenly, the man beside Max stretched out his arm, and a deafening roar filled the room. What sounded like the humming of a thousand bees overpowered every other sound in the room, pushing the smokescreen away and causing your teeth to chatter painfully. Powerful vibrations resonated through your bones and shook you to your very core, and you couldn’t help but remember the people from that video.
There was no longer any question, or any doubt as to who that was beside Max. You were dealing with the Shocker himself. But right at this very moment, he was dealing with the Wild Pack.
You didn’t so much see what happened next, as you did feel it. Through your bones, your skin and your spider sense. In an instant, the upper levels where the mercenaries had been firing from exploded in a cloud of dust and rubble. It was as if someone had just shot a tank shell into the theater.
You winced at the noise, and wondered just how many of them had survived that attack.
Just then, Maxwell flared up violently, spreading his energy out into the walls and floor, forcing you to cling to a chair so as to avoid being electrocuted.
With a sharp click, the lights above you, and all throughout the theater went on, all at once.
“WHOEVER YOU ARE, YOU’RE DEAD!” Max shouted, before firing multiple streams of electricity from his hands. The energy arced out sporadically, slamming into the marble pillars and plush seats with lethal intent. You weren’t sure if he’d actually managed to hit anybody, but you didn’t expect them to come back up for air anytime soon. They were probably only just now realizing how in over their heads they were.
Now that both were sufficiently distracted, it was probably a good time to make your move.
