You flip through the dossiers to see what sticks out to you. You briefly linger on the statue and the mechanical abomination but they don't interest you enough. The old man does interest you for a moment. His weathered, grey skin almost makes him look like he's been mummified.
You swear he's staring right at you. It always creeps you out whenever his dossier gets dumped onto your table. But, no, your eyes are set on the 199X dossier. You snatch the photo off the dossier folder to get a closer look.
You nearly wretch at what the photo shows, even with how low quality and grainy it is. Its broken arms twist and crack at unnatural angles. A thick, matted mess of black hair stained with something you can't quite make out obscures its face. You don't even want to imagine what it looks like in person but...you're going to pick it.
You're not sure why.
You wonder what's going to happen to the four other dossiers but you'd guess someone will collect them before the others wake up. As for the sponsorships?
You immediately dismiss the ENTERTAINMENT ENTERPRISES one. There's only one person you'd tolerate killing in this facility and he's not much of a threat anymore. You suppose you could challenge people to a fight but you only won your two fights off dumb luck. Pass.
The other two? One of them is written like a filled-in madlib. The way it's worded and phrased is kinda weird. 'Untangle/repair'? 'Many arms/legs'? You swear, it's like a broken LLM or someone who barely understood English wrote it.
BUT! One of the few things you're naturally gifted at is dealing with !PAPERWORK!, so this should be a super easy sponsorship for you.
You were a bit more hesitant on ZENITH. Random mystery drugs that 'harden' your skin? It doesn't take a genius to realize what the side effects of that could be. You think on it for a while and you decide, why not pick it? Their definition of 'drug trial' seems pretty vague.
You imagine it has to be unique tests so you can't just pour all three samples into the same tissue sample. There is one test subject you have in mind that could benefit from this drug - Lucy. To be as polite as you can, her skin has the consistency of microwaved silly putty.
It might be a way to help her condition. Of course, you'd have to convince her to take the drug, you're not going to forcefeed it to her. Maybe you could test it on some of your anomalies? IN LIMBO has some flesh, after all. You suppose you'll worry about that when you start your shift.
You scribble your signature down on the dotted lines. You'll accept the Q&Q and ZENITH sponsorship.
>SPONSORSHIPS OBTAINED!
>199X (real name revealed later) OBTAINED!
You suppose that just leaves you with a few hours to prepare for your shift. There's a lot you could do right now but you only have so much time. Story of your life you suppose. You get up from the table, ready to spend your precious FREE TIME!
