Time went by and the fleet had assembled itself. Several hundred ships of the Mechanicum now floated in the system adjacent to the Core Worlds of the Mitu Collective like a horde of hungry predators. Such a comparison was also apt as well. The Mechanicum were preparing for the moment where they could lurch towards their prey like the predators that they were mimicking.
They were all waiting for a signal, as unlike the predators of ancient Terra these machines knew the value of absolute patience. That signal soon came as the largest of them all, the Blackstone Fortress began the approach to the edge of the system.
All who looked upon it either from the sides or the ground would comment on a great monster of a craft walking. It traveled the great darkness of Space barely seen except for the massive cog that settled upon its top and the numerous spots that the Mechanicus took to modify. It was swift and powerful, a vessel that was the strongest of their fleet.
When it approached the edge of the system a rumble began before becoming a massive tear. Before the Blackstone Fortress was a massive rift into the realm of souls in which sought to tear them limb from limb. But unlike the terror that was almost always exhibited by the portal to reality instead it was a thin circle. The creatures that lived on the other side began to flee as the vessel’s approach risked ending their immortal lives.
And with that the rest of the fleet followed, each blessed by the Machine God’s grace with easy transit through the realm of souls. A trip that might have taken days was quickly cut into a few hours leaving only enough time for preparation.
On the other side seers began to become blind and pools of divining waters became a murky black. The moment that the Mitu were waiting for had arrived as they all began to charge the crystal which stretched across the surface of the place. Because of it, when the Blackstone Fortress finally arrived into the system the fleet failed to falter to the majesty of the Blackstone.
To this TalOS knew it would happen. A glance upon the nearby world verified that indeed the Xenos had turned part of an entire planet into their psychic crystal. Enough that while they could not engage in their most advance sorceries the Mitu were still capable.
As for the sizes of their fleet the two were comparable in force. TalOS knew this was not all their fleet as the Mitu were threatened to all sides by the Mechanicum, but with the Blackstone Fortress here the advance advantage of being at home was negated entirely.
With a single thought TalOS had all the ships within the fleet toe the line and begin firing their long range rounds into the enemy fleet.
