You order your ships to set a course for Prospero, the home of the Thousand Sons and Magnus the Red. An obscure planet, if it weren’t for the fact that it was the home of one of the Emperor’s sons it would probably have faded into irrelevancy. It only has one major city, Tizca, and no major resources of features beyond that. Ever since the Edict of Nikaea 5 years ago, the Thousand Sons have remained secluded on this planet, content to lie in seclusion in their libraries and let the rest of the galaxy march on. You cannot blame them. Magnus has been under a cloud of doubt ever since Nikaea, and you do not doubt he and the rest of his legion are continuing to practice their sorcery in secret, away from prying and suspicious eyes.
But now The Emperor had dispatched His executioners, the Wolves who had already hunted a primarch many years ago, and you doubt they were now heading to Prospero for a friendly chat. The intelligence you had received from what you could access of The Network had been vague, but you knew that it was on the order of The Emperor Himself, and you know that He would not act without reason. Somehow Magnus had strayed, and incurred The Emperor’s wrath. His sad devotion to those ancient books had not helped him conjure up a loophole in Nikaea or given him the clairvoyance to find an argument compelling enough to convince The Emperor.
You reflect on these events as your ships scream through the warp to Prospero. It will be a delicate situation when you get there. If Russ has not already begun to cull the legion of sorcerers by the time you arrive, he will not need much encouragement. While your force is minor in comparison to two legions worth of marines, you might still be able to tip the balance, influence events to your benefit. If you get there in time. You may arrive there after Russ, and find Prospero already in ruins, or you may arrive before he does and find a way to drag the sorcerers from their books before they all burn. You must wait to see when the tides of the warp will spit you out. You retire to your quarters and enter a meditative state, waiting for Kylon to fetch you when the ship arrives.
