“Incredible…! You never cease to amaze me.”
You waggled your eyebrows at her.
“Oh, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Just wait until you see what I can do with my-”
Just then, the door swung open again. Elsa strode back into the room, carrying something wrapped in a tattered cloth.
“Here you go. This should do nicely.”
She handed it to you, and you accepted it gingerly. Slowly, you unfolded the cloth and removed a curved, smoldering dagger from it. From its tip, it was an incredibly dark shade of gray, and towards the middle and end, it turned bright orange and then red at the hilt. Ash and cinder constantly fell from the weapon in small amounts, like a dog shedding its fur. It felt warm to the touch, and that alone seemed to impress Elsa.
“I can usually only handle that thing with thick gloves. Looks like you shouldn’t have any problems wielding it.”
You waved it back and forth, leaving a trail of cinders in its wake.
“What’s it do?”
“It burns the living shit out of whatever you stab it with. It’s also quite sturdy, and very fireproof. Perfect for someone with your newly acquired skills, and small enough that you won’t have a problem using it while swinging about.”
You compared it to your Vibranium-coated dagger and couldn’t help but feel a bit of envy towards Elsa for owning this thing. You doubted your own blade could withstand the sweltering heat being projected from your hands, but you would never know unless you put it to the test.
“It is a fine weapon, befitting a warrior.”
Ana clapped you on the back and you smiled back at her.
Suddenly, your phone rang, and you struggled for a minute to figure out what to do with both daggers in your hands. Yours went into its sheath, while Elsa’s had no such convenient container. Instead, you created a patch of webbing along the small of your back and laid the knife flat against it. Once you were sure that it wasn’t going anywhere, you pulled out your phone to answer it.
It was Cat.
“Cat? What’s up?”
“Demons are on the move! They’re starting to climb out of the pit, and the cops are struggling to keep them contained.”
You muttered a curse and relayed the information to the others before putting the phone on speaker. You thought you'd have more time!
“That’s not all. It looks like news reached the Morlocks, and they’re out here too.”
“What!? Why?”
“A group of demons slipped into some of the more populated areas, and they’re trying to put them down, but these ones are bigger and stronger than the others.”
“Then I will join them.”
Ana swung her cloak over her shoulders and brandished her spear. She was already heading towards the door.
“Me and Frank’ll hold them off at the pit. What about you and Sandy?”
