>>5360402The chatter of other patrons and the din of a stereo somewhere in the background fills the otherwise-silent bar as you stare into the counter.
"Not gonna lie, but I could go for a drink right about now." Bernard says offhandedly. It causes you to raise an eyebrow at the blonde, because there's an ice-cold glass of water sitting right next to him. "A real drink." He clarifies, sparing a glance to the innumerable bottles that line the wall.
"You drink?!" You sputter, stunned by Bernard's words. In the whole time you'd known him, you'd never gotten that sort of vibe from him at all.
"Not really, but, when my dad had his functions, he didn't say no." Bernard quirks a grin.
"Aha! So you're a boozehound!" You exclaim, pointing an accusatory finger at him. At the same time, you can't help the laughter that drips into your voice.
"Maybe..." He drawls, eyes gleaming in mischief. "But I think the term scoundrel has a better ring to it, don't you think so, Ellie? Cause boozehounds just get drunk-- and I am a man of class!" Bernard declares in faux-haughtiness.
You didn't think Matt had it in him either until you found him dead-ass drunk, but, then again, there's a lot of weird stuff Matt does that you don't really think to question.
However, drinking is a pastime that's as old as history itself, so it would probably be weirder if Bernard hadn't tried alcohol at least once. You probably would too-- if you could drink it, that is.
"Ah, they'd probably card me anyhow, and the card's a faker..." He frowns, the last part of that being said in a whisper low enough for only you to hear. Green eyes spare another longing glance to the line of bottles.
