The campaign on the planet continued for a week. The countryside had resulted in a slaughter that ran much of the land red, if it was done with blade. But the arsenal of the Mechanicum was vast even with the restriction that the land must be left untainted.
The easiest of these examples was the flames that had began to ravage most of the towns. Whatever psycho-kinetic wood it was made of, when the amount of psykers dropped to unsustainable levels the material quickly gained aspects shared by other forms of terran wood. Thus it was declared that massive fires be used to engulf entire cities in their wake.
These blazes would make the way for fertile ground as all that the Xenos held dear was destroyed. These embers would become the building blocks of communities and farms as the humans take over the planet under the rulership of the Duke’s family. In the future it will become prosperous, leading to an elegant future for thousands of years in the future.
In that week though the Magi noticed something within the earth of the planet. Signals bouncing back to them that should not be present on a xenos world. But upon their very arrival upon the planet there were plenty of signs that could not be easily ignored.
And the Tech Priests felt their organics act up as realization dawned upon them.
That is at least the understanding of Captain Lorch as he verified the cordinates that he was given. He took a few moments to wipe away the ashen floor to reveal the rust colored dirt underneath his boot.
“L3KT, status?” The Astartes asked as the Astartes fanned out to make sure nothing survived their assault upon the location.
The Acillian walked over with an Omnispex in hand pointed at the ground, “I have verified the discovery. There is a metal structure underneath our feet that is about eight thousand units in size right underneath us. A viable entrance to the place is right where you are standing, eighteen units under the ground.”
The Astarte nodded as he asked the question, “Do you have an energy reading?”
“I do.” The Acillian said with what Lorch realized was barely contained excitement.
