You turn around just in time to catch the blade with the palm of your hand. Kronya’s dagger slices through the flesh and bone, causing you to wince as you take several steps back.

“I don’t scare you anymore, you say?” Kronya smiles wickedly. Her body has somehow recovered from all the wounds you’d previously inflicted. “You know, I just don’t buy that. Maybe I need to remind you just how terrifying I can be!”

Grimacing, you raise your left hand back to attack the talon with magic, when you suddenly feel another dagger plunge into your backside, causing you to scream in pain.

“Don’t you get it, Blair?” Monica giggles from behind. “We’ll keep coming back. As many times at it takes!”

You cock your fist and swing it back to connect with Monica’s jaw, but she deftly leaps out of the way, extracting her dagger from your back. Kronya does the same, and the next thing you know, you’re surrounded by two dream assassins on both sides. The pain you’re feeling now is all too real.

“Did you think you were some sort of hero?” Kronya taunts, running a single bloody finger across the blade of her dagger. “How long did you really think you’d keep on fighting for?”

“I bet she secretly loves it.” Monica laughs. “Fighting Agarthans is just an excuse for her to revel in bloodshed. Even if she did manage to somehow defeat Shambhala, I bet she wouldn’t even stop killing. She’d just find someone new to fight instead.”

“Maybe we’re more alike than she thinks?” Kronya says, astonished.

Anons chose not to go along with Monica's bullshit here, which resulted in her taking Martha as her "Ingredient" while Blair was the bait. Had anons voted to have Blair be the Ingredient instead, she'd have taken you while leaving Martha behind. A few things could have happened here after. There'd be a prompt to escape, which you could do. Or she'd cut you loose and leave you to the whims of an already existing Demonic Beast, in this case, Xavier, who you'd have to fight off single-handedly. In either situation, Martha would live, though she wouldn't rejoin your party, being far too traumatized from what Kronya put her through. She'd likely reappear again in Part 2, and join you on your quest to destroy the Shapeshifters.

Xavier was unfortunately doomed.

As for Monica/Kronya, you had the opportunity to have her join your squad right after the Battle of the Eagle and Lion. Anons voted no, but had you voted yes, you would have gotten a rather OP Assassin character that would have tagged along with you for the remaining missions before her big reveal. That includes Blair's paralogue in Rusalka, that would have likely played out much more different than it did. Doing so would have also impacted the eventual kidnapping. She would be aware you know something about Agarthium, and she would be far less playful in trying to kill you.

Is there a world where you convert her with the power of friendship by having her warm up to you when joining your squad? Who knows. I never thought of that, but it'd be interesting to see how it may have played out. She probably wouldn't have been the happiest after what Solon did. And you did never find her body.

Those students are heading straight towards Kronya, and you’re not going to miss your chance to get a piece of her. The way she’s fighting, the Professor should require no additional help when it comes to wiping out the enemy in front of her. You join the unit of Black Eagles, providing them cover from above.

“Oh, I’m glad SOMEONE finally made it up here!” Kronya says. “You aren’t the ones I was hoping for, but a little warm-up wouldn’t hurt. Well, who am I kidding? It’s gonna hurt you a whole lot!”

>“Goddess, she never shuts up.” You say to no one in particular. Flanking her are two nasty looking mages, clad in robes that reveal nothing of their identity. Just who the hell are these guys? As your group nears the enemy, the two mages begin making their way towards you. While one seems focused on the five Black Eagles up ahead, the other turns his attention towards you. Couldn’t expect to go unscathed forever, you suppose.

The mage turns his hands up towards you, and from them, a swarm of flies seem to spontaneously appear out of thin air around you. The bloodsucking creatures do their best to devour you and Beathan, painfully latching on to the both of you.

(Enemy: 20+4=24 Mag – 16 Res = 8 DMG, Blair 39/47 HP, -5 SPD for one Turn)

Gritting your teeth, you conjure flames to burn the creatures off, before retaliating with your own magic, launching two fireballs at the cloaked figure. Both spells connect with the man, who seemingly shrugs off the magic with his superior resistance. Before he can counterattack though, his head is split in by the timely appearance of Caspar. You notice your friends have already dealt with the other mage. Kronya meanwhile, has stayed still in the back, watching disinterestedly.

Your friends face Kronya, weapons brandished, but none of them move in for the attack. You get a good look at the woman who was masquerading as Monica for the first time. She looks human…but not quite. There’s something remarkably uncanny about her. Whether it’s her skin color, which is far paler than you’ve ever seen on another human, or the strange material her outfit seems to be made of, there’s something odd about her. Odd, and extremely dangerous. You got a firsthand taste at how quick and deadly the girl was back at the Abandoned Chapel, but seeing her now, you get the feeling she’s far worse than she was letting on.

“So, who’s first?” She asks.
