>>5339044>East West culture dialogue etcYes when I was worldbuilding my Golgotha setting something I had in mind was Gandhara Greco-Buddhism. There is also a reference to Greco-Buddhism and Gandhara vaguely in my Galerne barbarian quest with mention of Kaushambi and some Indian-looking katar punch daggers hehe, as well as Mahiragula Devourer Of The Great Dark Sky. Not sure any of the anons got it but the Vourukasha religion about the river of consciousness through actions words and thoughts is probably some Greco Buddhist syncretist version of that lol (but also added demon sacrifice, and witch-pirates because... rpg)
There is a thing about how apparently Buddhism began as aniconic forbidding depictions of Buddha as idolatry common to a lot of old religions. Apparently the original representation of Buddha was that of absence, in keeping with Buddhist ideas of non-self, impermanence, suffering etc, Buddha was depicted as footprints, the tree under which he attained enlightenment, or an empty throne signifying how he abandoned his role as Prince etc (some of the spells and magic in my setting vaguely reference this). Then after Alexander the Great invaded India and left some Hellenistic sculptors behind a few centuries later you started to get statues of Buddha (some showing Greek influence etc). It is quite likely that all of this occurred separately or maybe in parallel together instead of one way cultural diffusion etc. But I like syncretistic religious history stuff because that is similar to the way I just blend and interweave stuff for all my games etc.
