>>5596980“One SRC6 each, Tactical… best we not be wasteful. Launch from… the forward tubes only. We can’t replenish… the rear tubes.” You hear your XO give a launch order, and moments later another flash darkens the viewports. The remaining handful of incoming torpedoes must be entering the firing range of your short range munitions. You shrug, trusting your XO to know what he’s doing. A single SRC6 per incoming torpedo will mean a total of 30 sprint missiles delivered and with the closer engagement range allowing for more up to date position data, it should be more than enough — conservative even.
Just as you begin to feel like you can begin string sentences together again without embarrassing yourself , Eyes-of-Night returns with a familiar figure hobbling along beside her — it's your Engineering officer, bloodied but alive.
Your Engineering Officer is responsible for power and heat management, damage control allocation, capability and damage assessment of enemy vessels, and keeping the Captain informed of the status of the ship’s systems. They are also expected to have working knowledge of a broad range of voidship systems, and are expected to be able to perform basic field repairs.
Your chosen Engineering officer is trained in the skills Engineering(M) and Field Repair(B|M) and also has the trait “The Knack” — allowing them to diagnose and sometimes even repair mechanical/electrical systems with just a glance and a touch, almost like magic.
