Bless the man for trying, but this isn't a matter of trust for you, it's basic pragmatism. Are you a divine being? Did you earn your right to be heard? Forget any of that, the fact is you could crush and kill all these humans and if they think words or their rules can stop you, they're in for deadly awakening.
Though you aren't entirely disheartened, there are objections and protests and grumblings from several of the clans' leadership present, those whom you spent time with in the months passed and helped. There most definitely isn't a unanimous or even majority decision to deny you here, in fact the opposition are in the minority. Unfortunately though, the local king here seems to hold the ceremonial power at the end of the day.
<span class="mu-r">"Who are you to make a challenge? You have no clan, no royalty none here are bidden to answer you."</span>
Finally the man himself speaks up, King Aodhan able to hear your angry complaining as he rises to address you and all gathered. As expected he gives an annoying answer, such that you can't just force a challenge with him, not appropriately at any rate.
<span class="mu-b"><span class="mu-i">Ugh... all this human nonsense!</span></span> you fume to yourself, barely able to keep your composure in the face of such aggravation.
Though even without really understanding the Gaelan culture and customs, you can tell at least that this is all a bunch of shit, their denying you. You know by popular support you'd be speaking now, and perhaps even queen instead! Instead because of their traditions you are stuck trying to play these bothersome rules, and what's worse the game is stacked against you.
After all, you're wise enough to know when you're being dismissed. The king and those in support of his decision, they give you various reasons why you shouldn't be allowed to give your ultimatum, but even you can tell how nonsense these reasons are. Ranging from not being a clan-ruler, to your gender. Even if you couldn't tell, you'd know as much from the unease and quiet upset among the other clan leaders, upset but unable to speak up against the king. In actuality, you get the feeling and would expect, the king himself doesn't want you to speak because he fears what you have to say. Fears your ambitions, because he knows well of your popularity and support among his people.
