"But-"
"Dill, let me finish." You hear supressed laughter from Table, you give a light elbow strike so that she shuts up. "Dill, she's a Forgotten. That means that if I don't check up on her often, I might forget about her. I didn't this time because I was doing active research for her sake, but she's right to be worried, as far as she knows I got distracted with some unrelated research."
"Besides," Table adds. "If he told me he'd need to spend a few days of no contact, I'd let him. I wouldn't LIKE it, but I trust him enough for that. The issue was him forgetting to come back."
Dill's lowering her head with a bothered look. "I see. I didn't want to make things harder between the two of you, I thought... I only thought you were being unreasonable at first."
Table attempts to put her hands on Dill's shoulder, but Dill instinctively slaps it away. "I understand that, but sometimes it's better to understand the context of something before butting in, you know? I got... a bit heated there, because I'm self conscious too, you know? When you accuse me of being inconsiderate, it's hard to not take personally."
"I see. I apologize." Dill says with a dejected tone.
"Hey, Dill. It's not-"
"It's always like this," Dill says. "Everytime I try to say something or help someone I always-"
"No." You cut her off. "Dill. You helped me with a LOT of things; I've said it before and i'll say it again, you're a great friend. Just because you mess up once or twice doesn't mean you're suddenly worthless, it means that you can learn from it. Okay? Don't go back to your dorm thinking we hate you, as I said before, I argue with Table all the time, you didn't ruin anything, it's okay."
You see her raise her hand, her fingers already starting to perform what you now recognize as a clarity spell. You quickly cast a small spark against her palm, which interrupts her casting.
"It helps me think better, so that things like that won't happen again."
"I know, but you'll never develop as a person if you keep relying on a spell to think."
Dill stands up, and heads for the door. "It's not anything you said or did, that's causing me to leave. I'm just... socially exhausted. What i'm trying to say is... uhm..." She looks back with an awkward smile. "Thank you for being patient with me. See you... later, maybe."
