>Don’t give her your metadata. You either don’t trust an expert like her enough with it, or don’t think it’s enough of a protective measure. Maybe both.
>Keep it a secret. Knowledge given to her is probably going to reach all of the Dogs of War. Wind already dragged Phascomon into this due to his capabilities. You don’t want him to get any ideas about using you for more errands.
This is shady. Her skill vastly outstrips your own, but even a Code Cracker will struggle to steal someone's ID from them directly. If you don't cooperate, she's unlikely to succeed.
"Sorry, I think I'll take my chances here. And don't worry about the bomb, I've got my own methods for avoiding detection."
"Are you sure they'll work? Come on, Marnie, I'm just trying to help!"
She sounds a little hurt that you're giving her absolutely nothing. Her efforts are being stonewalled. ToyAgumon looks a little uncomfortable at this turn of events too, but thankfully, he decides to try and dissolve the tension.
<span class="mu-b"><span class="mu-s">"If you say so. As long as you can do the mission fast, before the VPN expires, you won't need the double. We'll just leave one of them on standby..."</span></span>
Squid stands up and heads back to the bomb for calibrations. She moves around the desk and checks to make sure that all the workshop machinery is deactivated, so there's no chance of damaging the weapon unwittingly. Her chipper mood has faded.
"Okay. If that's all, you can go now. I'm going to be doing all my final checks. I hope you know what you're doing... The whole plan goes South if you're scanned with it."
You're fully confident that you can put the bomb in a partition and attach it to yourself, but she has no such assurance. To her, it must seem like you're just charging in while being uncooperative. You quietly leave the lab, opening up your window while outside and hovering over the Cyberdrill, imagining how you're going to be using it.
After you leave Squid's workshop, the partition is sealed behind you. You head towards the training ground, just in time to see a bedraggled Phascomon emerge from the room. He sighs when he sees you. His eyes are bloodshot and his fur textures are raised.
<span class="mu-s">"Hi. Evening. Training is done."</span>
He motions towards your Linker, before flopping forward onto his face. You take the hint.
"Hololize!"
Phascomon is returned to your Digivice, where his comfy room is. He's too tired to even climb the trees, so you watch him curl up on a bed of sleeping leaves. You spawn a nearly identical pile of eating leaves next to it, allowing him to reach over and munch on snacks. After he gets some food in him, he works up the energy to speak.
