>>5869657Are you expected to, maskmate? Or are you expecting to because you expect that the world expects it?
Perhaps trying to prevent a gaggle of weary wiery wired up rats with knives a sort of reward all on its own, and no small bones if it pays only in bruises because they're bruises you'll recieve anyway when they come a-prowling. To intercept them early, well, dangerous work, rewards unsure.
The only type of hero who wins a war, one man against eight and more coming, is a Rebus Agent, one of those distant and storied Vanadian folkheroes with their multitools and their multitude of talents, and the Legion, grand and high. The rest of us mortals, masks or not, might just have to make do with our fists, feet and focus. You're not walking away from an eight on one fight without a bruise or two. But if you remember how things work around here, yeah, then even successful defenses tend to leave a mark, so you would probably do something even if you won't single-handled throw-off an entire warband of scurrying rats.
And if enough friends do something, perhaps it all works out a lot better than you think it would.
But then again, you might simply opt to not get involved in that kind of back-alley brawling. It's apt to be dangerous, if one doesn't work together.
