You paused, and then shook your head. “I can sense when someone wants to hurt me. If we were being followed by bloodthirsty vampires, I think I would’ve known by now.” you proclaimed.
Morbius looked slightly skeptical, but he couldn’t disregard the confidence with which you declared this.
“You think Blade might have interfered, sir?” said a calm voice to your right. You turned to see a pale figure emerging from the darkness. His hair was pink and spiky, and whatever wasn’t shaven completely had been draped over his left eye. His clothing was similar to what Morbius was wearing, but it had more of a “punk rock” feel to it.
“No. He is still in Los Angeles, I believe.” Morbius confirmed.
“What about his daughter, Fallon Gray?” the young vampire asked. His behavior was far more mild mannered than you would’ve guessed from looking at his appearance.
“She is in Chicago. And I hardly think that she is skilled enough to take on Snowsnake.” Morbius replied. “Could it have been Elsa Bloodstone?”
“Last I checked, she was in an alternate dimension.” the punk vampire said.
“Hm. Then this is quite the conundrum. It would appear that our fair city has a new hunter of sorts. And a skilled one at that.” Morbius declared.
“That’s a good thing, right?” you said.
“That depends on whether they plan on stopping at Cromwell’s thralls, or kicking in my front door and clearing us out entirely.” Morbius said with a sigh.
“You think they’re that good?” Matt asked.
Morbius just shrugged. “We won’t know for sure until we encounter them.”
You pulled out the map that Cindy made and offered it to the club’s owner. He took it from your hands and examined it closely.
“I hope we do run into them. We’re planning on attacking some vampire strongholds. Just wanted to make sure that we weren’t stepping on your toes, or anything.” you explained.
Morbius nodded approvingly. “This is good work. You did this all by yourself?”
You glanced at Cindy and shrugged. She looked just as proud, if not more. “I had a bit of help from some people that I know. And since you haven’t ripped my head off by now, can I assume that you’d be willing to lend a helping claw, or at least let us operate within your territory?” you asked.
Morbius shoved the map back into your hands and gave you a pat on the shoulder. You didn’t like the way that his claws dragged against the fabric of your suit. It was only then that you were reminded that he could easily tear your arm off and beat you with it. Probably. Okay, you weren’t 100% sure that he was stronger than you, but you didn’t want to find out tonight if you could help it.
