Jimena is buying golden time, every second harder as the Magical Girls of the West pile up on their leader who veered from ojousama talk to actually talking about the Toys. A single Soul Gem would have been enough reference to draw from within all she truly knows about them, yet it doesn't hurt that the more than ten pretty crystals around her all point in the same direction. She finds it, the pattern; she perceives the signals around her going in and out of the crystals. She had always perceived them, in fact, but had never given them relevance in the sea of data. Now that they matter, they exist.
Closing her eyes, Erika tests out the Soul Gem Signal Interception; when she opens her eyes, every Magical Girl whose pattern she recognized was standing where she thought. Perfect. And yet, there is a ‘regardless’; and in this case, it’s that Erika can’t still feel the signals inside the Tower. Soul Gem Resonance, the method she learned from the Magicae Encyclopedia, has a much wider area than the usual scanning methods which attempt to detect Soul Gems since Erika is aiming for the signals emitted instead- but of course, it only works if signals are being emitted, to begin with. Looking up, she knows that there are- right above her. Attuning herself to the top of the Tower through Omniscience, Erika targets the signals coming in and out of the Magical Relay and draws out its pattern through the many, many examples. And there it is, lo and behold, the reason why only those specific signals can come in and out of the Tower. Unable to feel surprised, Erika yet furrows her brow out of reflex: the signals that the Magical Relay sends out, aimed directly at Soul Gems, are strictly mechanical and completely devoid of magic. HUH.
