I nodded. At least now I knew a little more about how this all worked.
'I heard about you, from Eikn. She called you the Angel Demigoddess.'
[DITE] "I am not a Demigoddess."
'Huh...?'
[DITE] "Nor am I of divinity. I am an Angel, and an Angel cannot be divine. It is the law."
'How do you come to such a conclusion? Are you not an Immortal being? Someone who possesses vast powers beyond human imagination?'
[DITE] "We Angels do not possess any power of our own. The power that we wield rightfully belongs solely to the only one who is truly divine. The one transcendent of concept and form."
'Then why does Eikn call you such a thing?'
[DITE] "She acts of her own volition to stay consistent with her architecture. She believes that I am a being that feels, when I am simply a thing. That is all. I am a thing. My willingness to serve the Wargod is out of compulsion alone. Any creature that asks enough would be able to convince an Angel like me to obey. Without a purpose, we cannot truly resist."
'...So, in a way, Eikn thinks you must be depressed, and is only trying to cheer you up, whilst Woldor thinks you serve in his pantheon of your own free will."
[DITE] "I cannot feel emotions or will."
'How can you be purposeless? Are there no other Angels out there?'
[DITE] "There are, but they eventually withdraw from this universe and become inactive. We are purposeless beings because this is not our world. Not the one we were meant for. Our true master is out of all sights, gone completely silent."
I was nearly about to compare her monotony to that of Shennu's when my sister isn't happy or moved by something. But I would be wrong to. This Dite is completely emotionless, unlike Shennu. She's almost like a robot, acting on whatever subroutines are left behind when there's no programming. Eikn must believe that by treating this Angel as part of their pantheon, she is somehow 'fixing' her, or at least trying to make her feel better.
But it's just that, isn't it? She cannot feel. Eikn means well but she must not realize the true nature of this Angel, if this Angel's words are to be believed... as I cannot read her mind to confirm as much... Eikn must hear this Angel talk of her purposelessness and assume it's some insecurity, rather than a universal problem that makes an Angel like her incompatible with Hainei's world itself.
[JOCO] "Personally, I think the weirdest part is that you can't read her mind!"
[MAJORDOMO] "Yeah, how's that work? Ain't you the Psychic deity, Muna? How come we can't read her mind?"
'Maybe she doesn't have a mind. Not the kind we think of when thinking of minds, the traditional kind. Or maybe her mind is in some other place far out of my influence to begin with...' I thought, musing over it...
The Angel didn't say anything else. She merely floated there, above me, blinking silently as I looked back at her face shrouded in sunlight.
(Dite's patience: 2 questions.)
