“I had heard that the Mechanicum were a bunch of logical zealots. But even those who are machine can see the beauty that is mankind’s divine form!” Cheered Lorgar as he gave a hearty laugh, “Then the incense that I smell in the air, is that to appease your Machine God?”
“No, the Machine God does not accept such sacrifices.” TalOS told his brother with a hint of confusion, “It is used to help pay a Machine Spirit for its service. Those outside would call it a sacrifice, but a sacrifice means that you do so without any gain. We gain the utility and will of the Machine Spirit.”
“Interesting brother, very interesting.” Lorgar’s eyes were wide with interest as he took in every detail with glee, “And those man-machines your people call servitors? What exactly are they?”
“Those that have sinned and been forced to become one with the machine as penance.” TalOS said as he felt an ache of worry within his heart.
Of all the things TalOS avoided with his brothers religion was at the top. The Imperium banned religion and many of his brothers like Rogal Dorn and Perturabo do not believe in such things as gods. To be given the opposite was worrisome, especially when that sense of wonder was mixed with disgust… and ambition.
“I have heard that the Mechanicum follows our Father as the Omnissiah? Is he another face of the Machine God or someone completely different?” Lorgar asked what should be a normal question. So why did TalOS feel tension now. Without another thought he sent a message to his mother to make sure that she did not come into this room, for knowing at least one of his brothers were capable of filicide meant that TalOS needed to verify the threat level of his opponent.
“They are different entities according to the Lucian Doctrine, for while the Omnissiah is mortal the Machine God flows within the Motive Force. Upon Lucius we do not believe the Emperor to be the Omnissiah, but other Forge Worlds will disagree with us on that issue.” TalOS pointed out with a testing smile, “I do not think you would want to go into that.”
Lorgar’s face finally matched the emotions that he had been feeling the entire time, “How can you not recognize the Divinity that is our Father? He is a God and you do not even acknowledge him as a Prophet?”
Within an instant TalOS’s mind clicked everything into place and understanding was reached. He did not expect to come to such a conclusion in his lifetime. That one of his brothers thought their Father was a God.
