I think it makes sense if we aren't using that stuff right now and resemble more 40k Admech, because it is the early days. Maybe it comes later on as we unite the galaxy. Myrmidion Secutarii of the Myrmidion Auxilia for example, come from the Calixis Sector. Imagine Techpriests who enjoy melee combat and make it their speciality. Maybe one day Talos could be seen as the Father of the Taghmata, with the Federation as its shining example.
30k also has some cool stuff like:
-A much expanded Legio Cybernetica with all kinds of robots beyond Kasetellans
-Total integration of Civilian and Mechanicus, rather than separation of Machine Church and State. I.e. Archmagos Intendant's instead of Planetary Governors
-The Ordo Reductor
-Just the Mechanicum generally being seen as being of a higher calibre than the Mechanicus. Kind of like how Legions are thought to be more advanced than Chapters even if you put them all together, not simply being bigger but having more functional dark age equipment and the oversight of their Primarch
