"Agreed." Maruyama nods.
"Please don't do that you're so cool and cute hahaha." Kiara pats you on the shoulder. "Okay but seriously. Don't."
You snort. "Hey, it was a jest. But seriously, that sucked ass." The three of you finish the meals graciously provided and, oh shit. You glance at the candles the three of you brought and they already melted a decent amount. Best to get going.
>-$600. $2088 LEFT.
Huh, you swore you had $2998 last you checked. You must've miscounted. A slip of paper in your pocket simply reads "PHANTOM $330. ACCIDENTLY TRANSPORTED MONEY FROM FIVE YEARS IN FUTURE TO WALLET. RECTIFIED. I APOLOGIZE - SUKANE"
The three of you head out of the theater (though you make sure to grab NEW YOU) and without further ado, the three begin to start your trek back to the train station. It's already getting pretty late and you assume by the time you get back home, you're probably going to fall asleep. It is what it is.
"Sure. It sucked. But I had fun." Maruyama shrugs. His walking is a bit unstable, the complimentary sake given hasn't made him drunk but it's messing with his movements a bit. That's not what catches your eye. For a split second, you thought you saw him holding something.
A pocketwatch? A katana? A rose? A beating heart? It was only manifested for half a second, maybe not even that. You doubt Maruyama would know, even if you asked him about it.
"Same." You reach in your pocket for a smoke before realizing, oh yeah, you already smoked all of your good ones a week ago. Maruyama holds out a pack of cigarettes he has towards you and Kiara. Both of you take a cigarette from it and, with some FOCUSED TELEKINESIS, you light them up. "Huh. That's what she meant by your antlers being 'conduits' of her."
"Yeah."
"Again."
"Long story." You and Kiara mutter.
The three of you share a smoke on your walk throughout L-Corp's district. You did learn a few important things here, mainly that you have to act on your damn best behavior if you ever go here. Apparently two offenses is enough to get you shot in broad daylight without anyone even caring.
[SEEKER OF THE CITY] Your knowledge is a bit fuzzy given the lack of SCHOLAR helping you out but purity is ultimately what matters to them, it seems. If you 'act' with 'pure' intentions, that seems to be 'fine' by them.
[SEEKER OF THE CITY] Could be a Singularity thing if they're able to detect that. Though their definition is a mystery to you since you murdered god knows how many people in your job and no one has stopped you.
[UNSTABLE] YOU DIDN'T KILL ANYONE THEY CARED ABOUT. THEY ARE SELFISH, NICOLE. But who isn't?
Soon, the three of you end up at the train station right as most of your candles are melted into nothing but wax. "Well, I best be heading home. It was nice catching up with you two."
"Same. I wouldn't mind joining on another mission of yours. Call me up when you can."
"See ya around, Nicky!" Kiara waves as she boards a train with Maruyama.
