>>5793413The two most obvious theories that jumped out at you are the most obvious, and perhaps the LEAST conspiratorial: that Izirina Henzler was some sort of alchemical experiment, as you’d suspected she was… or that she was genuinely an heir to the Archmage. Or BOTH? A ‘perfect heir’, a living weapon designed to be Theresa Henzler’s ultimate weapon and eventual successor, perhaps at the helm of some sort of… Secretive inner circle of lizard-human hybrids, dreamt up in her long years as a secretive chimerical genius? But a weapon for, and against, whom? How deep did this rabbit hole—jackalope hole, perhaps—GO?
Over the remaining months of the school year, you tried to set the preoccupation aside. You really DID. A growing fear stymied your boundless curiosity and stifled your obsession. You had an instinct that all this could be… Dangerous. What if the Archmage, clearly a woman capable of dark and lasting conspiracy, learned of what you had been up to? What would someone like that, who would create an manipulate a little girl into some instrument of her will, do to some unrelated child who interfered in her mysterious and dastardly designs? And wouldn’t it have been nice to spend more of these long evenings with friends… Maybe with the object of this obsession herself? You did miss Izirina most of all. Pearce and the others, well, you still spend some evenings with them, but Izirina Henzler remained as distant as ever.
The problem was that the more you learned about her, and the more questions AROSE about her, the more forbidding and distant Izirina seemed to you. If she was unwilling to entertain your attempts to mend your relationship, well… You began to paradoxically feel likewise indisposed. What would SHE do if she learned that you had been investigating her origins, and her ‘mother’? Would she lash out? Report you to the Archmage?
Would she forgive you…?
