"It's natural for me to impress, fufufu~" That shine in her eye became ambitious. "Soon enough you'll see how truly wonderful I am~"
"There's no need for that, madame. You're already a critical element within my ambitions." You returned the smugness with a smirk of your own. So that's what this was about— she was scheming to make another attempt at becoming your first wife.
"You flatter me~" She said. "But I know that it's merely a matter of time before you and I are inseparable."
"And we aren't already?" You two were basically hugging each other by this point. "I expect you plan on being more useful to me than you already have been."
"You know me too well, my gallant Master~"
But despite her efforts it wasn't like Ruby suddenly became one of the best mastermind spellcasters in the world. She still had bad habit, like cutting corners out of laziness and paradoxically taking the more complicated path when a simpler version would've done a better job at securing victory.
Not to mention she was still a bit out of shape even after exercising every day. On that note, there were times where you needed to occasionally 'encourage' some of your wives to exercise, though you gave exceptions to those that were affected by morning sickness. Ruby seemed to take advantage of this when she could, even going as far as refusing to take the anti-morning sickness potions Ayane made in order to have a day off (which didn't seem like it was worth it, if Ruby's extensive misery when undergoing morning sickness was anything to go by. Needless to say, Ruby never skipped on using that potion since then).
As Rose continued boasting and making vague promises of 'being your right-hand', you realized that if you spoke of what you wanted her to do next week she'd take the opportunity to impress you by doing her best job at it. You thought of ways to direct her energy in a more productive way.
>Make her focus on her physical abilities more. Her fighting abilities were good in theory, but in practice she seemed to be lacking. (Uses up Ruby's action next week)
>Have Ruby Rose continue to study magic. She was doing well on that front already. (Uses up Ruby's action next week)
>This Mastermind of yours was good scheming; a talent that would be useful in helping you plot out ways to rescue Catty's dad. (Uses up Ruby's action next week)
>You'll have her brew some useful portions. (Uses up Ruby's action next week)
>You'll wait and watch what she does instead. (Ruby's weekly choice will be selected like normal) (Ruby's energy will be dedicated to her antics)
