>>5312414Though she never denigrates you in such terms in public, for fear of her own status or respect for your inviting her on this expedition to begin with, the Novice is one of the scant few being alive privy to the secret of your birth. She alone, among all your retinue, knows you are no TRUE Dragonborn, but a heavily-modified human-Dragonblood-Silkscale mongrel, cooked up by a Degenerate half-human Infiltrator. It is, as she notes, one reason why conventional disguise spells have never worked well on you.
“You’re saying you can modify my form?” you ask. “Into… What?”
The Novice Fleshweaver hesitates, and you realize (with amusement AND annoyance) that she ahs overstated her case.
“I BELIEVE,” she says, “that I have devised a means to… Modify your appearance somewhat, yes. The theory, which is STILL being tested, is that through proper application of the Amulets, with MY advanced and prodigious Fleshweaving talents, I can create a amulet which does not merely DISGUISE, but which TARSNFORMS. An… Amulet of Elfshape, say, using the abundance of genetic material I gathered at our ‘diplomatic summit’.”
The Novice puts disparaging influence on the last two words. Not for the first time, you wonder if this female Serpent Priest, who so bullied you a short decade ago when you were both young, is JEALOUS of the time you spent alone with the dark elf leader Jazkarmel.
“Unless you can shrink me three or four feet in height, I doubt I would pass for one of the Drow,” you note.
“Skeptic! Small-minded One!” the Novice spits, then sighs. “But… Not incorrect. You would be a titanic elf… But for one such as me, or one of our Silkscale allies? It could be useful, if we wish to infiltrate their race more properly. And with a few abduction from the towns below… Or with what samples our Merchants and the Degenerate may bring back...”
“I see the potential,” you admit. “THEORETICALLY.”
“Do you?” the Novice asks, narrowing her eyes smugly.
You sigh, and tell her to spit it out.
“You have brought back DRAGON materials!” she exclaims, gesturing to the eggs again.
Your eyes widen.
