Not even fit to be called a witch..” Millicent snarls beneath her breath, still hidden behind the doll’s back. “More like the UNFATHOMABLE..”
“That thing, it seems, was the convict I put down before in GRAVESIDE.” You look back to Ava, still a bit taken aback by that whole affair. “It looks like she was capable of some impressive magic without that mask. She thought to pay us back.”
“It–she just–she gave me back my lifespan.” Emilia stumbles for the right words. “R-really.. It was so sudden, I–”
“Oh? Is that so? Well, good for you!” Ava folds her arms. “What is it? 80, 90 years? I understand some humans can live to be over 100.”
“Ah! That’s wonderful. Congratulations..!” Noelle clasps her hands together. “You can leave here now, I presume?”
“Ah.. uhm–..yes. I.. suppose I can..” She bows her head, gently grasping for your hand and squeezing your glove. “Thank you, Alphonse.”
“Aha! Yes, yes, of course.” You tug your glove back from her grasp as your face grows red hot. “We’ll have plenty of time to reminisce about it on the surface, hmm..? We still need to see to the lich.”
“Ah, that’s right.” Ava runs a hand through her braid. “What was it? You sought to bring the lich’s head back, wasn’t it..?”

Your party progresses forward as such. You stoop through the endless hills of flowers that stretch out as far as the eye can see, idyllic knolls that reflect the light of the stars like snow atop black mountains. You hold the berserker’s hand on occasion as you trod up particularly steep hills–she’s warm to the touch, even beneath your gloves’s leather.
You find it before you all at once, as if it suddenly sprouted up in your path as you marched ahead. The lich’s tower–a vast, black knife edge that lilts up from the flowers, a MISERICORDE stuck through the CORPSE. Your party line up before the glossy, glass-like walls–and in its center, a vast, dark archway that opens up to an even darker black inside. You feel as if you stare into the maw of an abyss.
“What? Why do you all look so scared?” Ava scoffs, glancing back at you. “It’s just a lich. She and I are friends. Come on.”
