“And when do you come into all this?” you said.
“I was born much later. While I share my father’s impossibly long life-span, I cannot claim to hold even a fraction of his power.” she admitted. “For a while after I was born, I would travel with my father to witness, and sometimes partake in his games. He would grant me the spoils, and teach me whatever relevant information crossed his mind. I learned a great deal from him, and even admired him for some time.”
“What changed?” Richard asked.
Va Nee narrowed her eyes and directed her gaze to the wooden floor tiles. “Eventually, I learned just how harmful his games were to the planets and systems that unwillingly hosted his events. Wanton death and destruction were not unusual results. I tried to the best of my ability to convince him to consider a more peaceful approach, and even went so far as to scout out unpopulated planets, as well as those without sentient life as a staging ground for his games. But every now and again…he would go over my head and set up his games without informing me.”
Va Nee clenched her hands tightly and gritted her teeth at the memory. “I knew that there was only one way to stop my father from inflicting further harm to the galaxy. I stole his precious artifact and fled in my personal ship, the Voyager.”
Flint screwed up his face in confusion. “‘Precious artifact’? What’s that?”
She turned to look at him, a deathly serious expression on her face. “It’s called the ‘ISO-Sphere’. It is an artifact created purely from the richest material known in existence, ‘Isotope-8’; or as some may like to call it, ‘Neutronium’.”
“What is it?” Richard asked, his interest piqued.
“It is a material that was formed as a byproduct from the Big Bang itself. An aspect of creation and all life. It is incredibly scarce in any amount, and is nearly impossible to stabilize.”
“What does it do?” you said.
“Potentially? Anything. That is why the ISO-Sphere is so dangerous, and it is why I have hidden it before arriving here.” Va Nee explained. “Because you see, the ISO-Sphere is capable of granting any wish you desire, as well as rewriting reality itself to conform to your vision.”
There was a long, pregnant pause in the room as Va Nee’s statement knocked you all flat on your asses and left you speechless. What the hell were you even supposed to say to that? It was a fucking terrifying thought. Even more than when Galactus and Thanos showed up to destroy all life as you knew it.
Whether she had noticed your shocked expressions or not, Va Nee just kept going with her explanation.
