(I made a mistake, it’s supposed to be “fall in line” instead of “file in line”. Brain farts are weird.)
“As antagonistic as it may sound, I need to ask you if you’re intentionally leaving details out. What’s wrong with the Elders of your clan?” You need this point explained regardless of if you’re interested in doing what Marcela wants.
“Oh! Clangorous yikes! I forgot to tell you! I’m used to everyone knowing how awful they are, so this one’s on me!” Marcela almost drops the spinning box from her fingers. “Onto what’s important…” Marcela begins explaining her side of the story.
The Elders were responsible for killing Qiao’s parents, the main target being the previous leader of the clan, Qiao’s mother – a woman Marcela almost mistakenly called ‘an Old Hag’ before correcting herself. The Old leader and the Elders had a disagreement on how to deal with an Extinct Enemy Clan that resurfaced out of thin air a couple of years ago. This evil clan reappeared despite being wiped from the face of the Earth centuries ago. Their sole mission is to bring a God of Death to roam this world to wipe it from existence.
The Elders wanted these individuals dead. The Clan Leader argued it was impossible for them to do anything, the clan’s influence and resources are not what it was centuries ago, and pulling something like this felt idiotic and unnecessary – she decided to find these individuals and speak to them to understand the situation better. Couple of weeks after this decision was taken, the Clan Leader showed up dead. Marcela doesn’t know for sure if the Elders were responsible, but the very same day they were talking about educating Qiao into their liking, to be their puppet.
“…By the look on your face, I can tell you figured it out, didn’t you?” Marcela knows more about you than it appears. “It was a case you were involved with.”
“The Orphanage of the Blue…” You feel like a headache is brewing, that damn case… Those bastards… Those damned bastards…
“Exactly! I bet you were thinking I was going to tell the same thing to the other detective! But no! Mr. Kobashi, I know you’re the real deal. I know you’re the only one who can find the Ignis Fatuus. You have experience in supernatural cases and…” Marcela notices how tense you are. “Something wrong…?”
…?
>“Your elders weren’t wrong about those people.”
>“You have no idea what happened, do you?”
>“I’ll think about it, I must go…” Grab the package and close the door, you need to make a call.
