>>5361571>16: Low DC, conditional success“Very well,” the Chaplain acknowledges. “You have found value in your impulsive grab for power… But all the more reason, then, to commit to a single reckless decision. If Bloodrise is of such importance, why do you now wish to abandon it to fate, or leave it in the hands of others?”
“The Green Knight is an existential threat—”
“The DWARVES are an existential threat. The humans who may miss the one who you took this belt from—THEY are an existential threat! Even the mammalian ALLIES you have arranged for us are, inevitably, a threat. Clean up one mess before you make a new one, oh Dragonborn.”
“But…”
But the diadem, for your brother! The vision! Vengeance for your fallen progenitor!
“That will be all,” the Chaplain dismisses you.
You sigh deeply, and consider your final trump card. You know that if you revealed it, it would turn the tide of the Chaplain’s mind. It is your Novice-improved amulet and resultant <Augmented Dragonshape>. It would intimidate, impress. Explaining its origins—the harvested knowledge and dragon-blood of the ancient nursery-turned-crypt, would both solidify the Chaplain’s immediate and personal interest in the Bloodrise, AND ensure he would want neither you nor the Novice Fleshweaver near to its treasures any longer. He would recall his daughter, rescind your command, and take control himself… But, results-focused reptile that he is, he would be loathe to forsake the power and magical mastery you would thus evince. He would find a use for you…
Such as serving as a more-than-worthy opponent for the Green Knight.
What do you do?
>Reveal your Dragonshape, and explain the sordid origins, hobbling your career and the Novice’s to pursue the Green Knight Guaranteed success, with consequences
>Accept the Chaplain’s decision—let the Green Knight get away, for now, and return to BloodriseGuaranteed success, with DIFFERENT cosnequences
>Snap, and go renegade—slay the Chaplain, and seize power for yourself in what will no doubt be a bloody civil warPossible failure, BIG consequences
