“Count Herle de Rivel, I have come because I am investigating a massacred that happened several miles south of here.” Lucian declared first and foremost, “I had talked to Count Husson, and he claimed that the two was massacred by you. Do you have an answer for these accusations?”
“Me, nor my men, did not do it.” The Count answered simply, “I would not be killing those who will be my proper subjects once again. To slaughter the peasantry in cold blood is only the territory of Bandit Knights and fools.”
“Then you would claim that it was Husson who did it then?”
“It would make sense if the peasants were resistant and he was taking the policy of scorched earth. If I was him and had a proper idea of what was happening then it might be a possible policy to follow.” The Knight said as he shook his head, “Do you believe him?”
“I do, for that land is what he owns and even a malicious lord would not kill his own people without a reason.” Lucian pointed out, “You are the one who started this war, what would be your defense?”
Upon his request Lucian watched as the man took his helm off and placed it on the side. He showed a face with brown hair and blue eyes, “I am here to reclaim what my father lost. These lands were given to my family by the Dukes since recorded history, his only getting it for a generation through marriage. We have been fighting over it for generations.”
“Then this is a Family Blood Feud I’m seeing?”
The man nodded with understanding, “Indeed Sir Lucian, that is the case. Know that I am greatly angered by hearing your words, for those were my Peasants that died, but until I finish this war I cannot seek them out.”
And if it's neither of them, Lucian realized, he would be in a lot more trouble then he thought before. An Agent, let them be of Chaos or simple banditry, seem to have attacked the place.
They were faced with an impossible task now. Trying to track down what is a small force who massacres villages while two armies march around. Whoever’s goal it was to kill a village or two right now knew that doing this made them nearly undetectable.
And Lucian, looking at those Imperials, could guess that even if this Count wanted to help he wouldn’t. Those were clearly mercenaries, and mercenaries did not like stopping a war. As for Count Husson, it was clear.
>Side with someone to end the war faster *Who*
>Head to the Dwarfs
>Try anyways.
Actual Spoiler but for transparency This is a... primer for next thread one would say. This will be resolved.
