>>5668313From a physical standpoint, Raphael dwarfs you both in size and physical strength. You’d actually fought him once before, an eternity ago during your first mock battle. You’d defeated him soundly with your fledgling magic, but that was then, and this is now. Though never close, the two of you were friendly, and had even fought together once before. You didn’t want to kill him if you could help it.
>“Raphael, please! I wasn’t the one who hurt Ignatz!” From his comment earlier, you believe you’ve gotten a good understanding of just what’s gotten him so worked up. Ignatz, his best friend of many years, must have perished during Dimitri and the army’s attack. “I wanted none of this. I only came here to help my friends from Faerghus get through this battle alive. You must believe me; I never wanted our two sides to fight!”Raphael is only a few steps away from you. He’d caught you unaware, and his clawed fist was curled back and ready to lay into you in what would have undoubtedly been an extremely painful blow. His fist never comes down though. You can see visible strain on his face as the behemoth shakes, unsure of what to do.
>“Raphael, please. Let’s not do this…you have a sister that you care for very much, don’t you? Put your hand down and get out of here.” You try your hardest to sound as soothing as possible. “The soldiers on your side have been scattered and confused…you need to get them out of here before more of them are hurt unnecessarily. Please, Raphael. Leave this place.”“Blair…I don’t understand…” Tears well up in his eyes. His fist is still raised as if it could fall on you at any moment. “Why did this have to happen…”
You’ve succeeded in stopping Raphael’s attack. However, the grappler does not back down, and you’re still in danger. Growing increasingly nervous, you try to find the right combination of words that may be able to convince Raphael to flee the battlefield. Already there had already been so much unnecessary bloodshed. You desperately wanted your friend to leave this useless place and return to his family. Before you can try again though, something out of the corner catches your attention.
“Get away from her!” Sylvain shouts. The heir to House Gautier is galloping towards you in a frenzy, and in his hand is none other than the Lance of Ruin you’d helped him reacquire. Before you even have a chance to shout your protest, he attacks Raphael in a flash of blue light. The Lance of Ruin enters through Raphael’s chest and out his back. Lodged on the spear, he is dragged several feet by Sylvain before the weapon is finally wrenched free from his corpse in a spray of gore.
“Blair! Are you okay?” Sylvain asks, lifting the visor from his face and giving you a concerned look.
