>>5522072Before now, you thought training was just repeating whatever exercise you devised to accomplish what you wanted over and over until you got the results you wanted.
Under Emma's absolutely iron hand, you learn that this might work on the road with whatever happens to be laying around, but in a gym, it's a complete waste.
Of course, most trainers don't get private tuition from a former Gym Leader and Elite Four member who knows this stuff inside and out.
She starts out easy enough with Calm Mind, since it doesn't really require any specialised equipment, though she does set you and Holly to practicing alongside Latias and Latios.
It's actually kind of hard for you, considering your aura attunement and your meditation with Gareth but it comes easily enough to Holly, Latios and Latias and eventually, you manage to get the knack for it, even managing to maintain that zen mindset when Emma starts going to town on a soup pot with a wooden spoon, creating an awful din and setting her Ninetales to hitting all four of you with Confuse Ray.
It's not a fun experience, but eventually, you have Calm Mind down to Emma's satisfaction and Latias and Latios demonstrate afterwards that they can use it consistently, quickly and without much difficulty.
Next, Emma moves onto Agility, which in comparison to Calm Mind, you have very, very little trouble with and Latias is even able to glean some insight on the move from your mind and demonstrate more effectively for Latios, vastly speeding up the teaching process.
By the time you're done with Agility, there's still an hour until lunch.
"Now then. Baton Pass." Emma says after you're done taking a break to wind down and recover from your exertions.
Holly's looking like she's starting to get tired, but fortunately, this isn't a move you can really get much out of.
To demonstrate, Emma has her Rapidash, which has already been demonstrating Agility use the move to switch to her Ninetales, whereupon you realise that actually, this move does require some pretty quick hands on your part. It's a good thing you've been practicing Agility for the past hour or so.
