>>5841246fun fact: Sekiro was a huge inspiration for Night Without Stars quest, especially in regards to the ghost or spirits second only to World of Horror. the big thing I wanted to include was the terrify status effect basically meaning you would instantly die when it reached full regardless of your health or defensive state, which is where curses originally came from. unfortunately we didn't get to see more of the curse mechanic, which I forgot to expand upon in the thread at the end. I'll post it here for the sake of archival purposes because several years from now I will forget this and will want to remember it.
Getting cursed multiple times would make your curse worse. Since the qm got to decide when the curse was activated, I was fully planning to let either Scrim or Pineneedle get multiple curses without activating them so I can make it worse later. as some people in the threads stated after it was over, it felt like magic or haunting encounters we're a little underdeveloped and less common than they should have been to fully flesh out this mechanic.
>CURSEDAny roll you make can fail, then the curse is lifted. This is the first level usually got from failing a Sealing or Magic roll. If you get cursed again we'll already cursed you go to the next level, and so on.
>FORSAKENAny roll you make, or the rolls of other players directly above or below your post can be failed automatically. Additionally it was going to be that you could not get healed or have your curses removed by other players as well if you reach the state. The character would also be drawn with dark markings going up and down their body similar to really serious dark Japanese Shinto curses you see in some anime.
>DOOMEDIf you ever reach this level of curse your character is doomed. No matter what you do they will die, either in the next encounter or by freak accident. I had the idea that if Scrim ever got fully doomed, I would let him get almost all the way to the end before the Earth would randomly open up beneath him and he'd fall into a black chasm with reaching hands just like in the void abyss that almost claimed him the first time and gave him his fear of heights.
