After some time in the caverns; it becomes clear that navigation is only going to become more challenging from here.
While the party has been doing a good job tracing their steps and leaving markings behind, as well as updating the map, it has only been a shared responsibility and not an exact science. Jon is frustrated at the lack of accurate information.
<span class="mu-b">"Hold! Our map of this place is already bigger then the upper floors combined- haven't we walked for an hour with nothing of interest?"</span>
<span class="mu-r">"...Or "everything of interest" is keeping itself right away from the light of our torch."</span>
<span class="mu-g">"It feels that way, Jon."</span>
<span class="mu-b">"It's clear then. This place is huge, and much more complex then the simple tunnels and tombs built above, by human hands, with human minds..."</span>
"We ain't lost, are we?"
<span class="mu-b">"No, no. But I'm worried it could happen. Or simply be beyond our scope. All it would take for one wrong passage to get marked on here to screw us up good- maybe even make us travel in circles. It's imperative we get this right."</span>
<span class="mu-g">"Well Jon, they're your notes. You're the only one here who can read, right?"</span>
<span class="mu-b">"True, but it can't <span class="mu-i">just</span> be me. What if I die? Or get knocked out? We need someone in charge of navigation. Who is going to do it?"</span>
<span class="mu-g">"You!"</span>
<span class="mu-b">"Elly..."</span>
The snail is already shaking his head no, he wants no part in this. Richard asks if we should go back and try a more thorough approach- dividing the chambers up by grid and square footage; but everyone knows it would be too slow and tedious to make any use of it. Young James volunteers, and as a natural guide, he may be the best- but this isn't his normal environment, and uniquely, the 3rd dimension may be at play, as some of these chambers may be higher or lower then the others, if the trickling water is any indication.
This will be a challenge. Who is clever enough for the task?
>Jon
