I am personally just a fairly conservative and dull traditional person, maybe it is the fantasy rpgs but I like old things lol. These days there seems to be a strange cultural push towards altering normative behaviour, not sure if it has some commercial or economic motivation, even some cultural shaping going on (history of modern culture with feminists like Gloria Steinem, or The Paris Review, or Abstract Expressionism during the Cold War lol). Maybe it is just demographics, following labour force changes and workplace roles that were inevitable. Look here are some maiden knights, their armour is so fascinating! And before you critique this, I know of The Faerie Queene by Edmund Spenser in 1596, it is an Elizabethan 4chan maiden knight fantasy, there is some damsel in distress stuff.
