At this point a horde would gather and would seek you all out. Whenever Mel reported this, Gerty would change tactics by flanking them while Mel sniped the biggest threats. After this was dealt with it was a simple matter of mopping up the remnants in the Monster Room.
It was easy and efficient, but after a few times it began to get old.
You got your wish of breaking the monotony was granted when a wingless dragon burst out of a cave, the intent to cause trouble to your clankers and help its monstrous allies clear.
But this surprise was no match for your reflexes. You're quick on the draw with the BoatMech's Electric Rail— hurling a massive electric bolt at the beast and killing it instantly.
"Ah." Aila blinked after the flashy attack. "Master, you just killed a lindworm! That's amazing!" She was impressed once again.
The Saintess was generally fascinated by your creations, but she truly began to shine when speaking about the subject of magical studies. Specifically she seemed interested by your estate's giant laser capabilities and about [Custom Special], being interested in how it worked. It was refreshing to have someone that could half-understand what you were saying— though the Saintess still lagged behind you and Herta.
After you answered her questions and happily embraced her innocent awe, you get back to helping your two other wives. Whatever wasn't killed by the clankers was killed by Gerty and Mel, and if that somehow wasn't enough you were there as backup to finish the kills.
Neither Aila nor Gerty needed to use any healing spells, and you noted that all the clankers were almost perfectly intact.
The monsters' corpses provided a good amount of items for you to collect. These were in the form of minerals or materials that could only be harvested from them. Most had very specific uses (owlbear plumage made for comfy pillows, apparently, and dead slimes could make for a type of jelly, for example).
An opportunity presented itself as you saw that an armored clank still had a capturing net and some of the original clankers even had some rope to tie intruders up with. Bertha once mentioned the idea you entertained in passing— Monster Ranching. Although you knew next to nothing about taking care of monsters and had little knowledge of what they needed, and even though Bertha warned that it was hard and tedious work (she also hadn't personally experienced Monster Ranching, only seeing some slime ranchers from time to time back in Aquataine), it couldn't be that hard to take care of a monster or two. Right?
>Try to catch a monster or two. (Choices: Owlbear, golem, rock wolf, slime tyrant, wyrm)
>No, this sounded like a bad idea. Just keep killing them and getting materials. (Will get more monster drops)

Still you got nice materials and skins. Bertha said she could make special armor with the wyrm skin, and Cattleya organized everything new in the storage rooms, both actions synchronizing well with the events today.
