Lucian had to think quickly, for the next words were going to be trouble. If he was not careful then there was going to be problems. An angry nobleman after all was someone who could be causing problems for the Knight. Yet at the same time he did not want to be dishonest for it was not his way upon this world. Lying muddied the waters and made a great many men drown in the muck.
“My Lord, I was on the search for an item of great importance.” Lucian began as he tried to pick his words carefully, “I had heard, during these travels, that there was an imperial man whose hair was a bright blond was at your residence. I, decided then, to visit your home right away to complete my investigation. None cannot state the awe I am of your estate!”
Lucian tried to work his words with as much oil as his mouth would allow. It tasted somewhat tangey as he tried to wordsmith words that he was not really used to saying.
“I see…” The man gave an incredulous look at Lucian before glancing towards his guest, “It seems that they were looking for you, Adolf.”
“Yes, they were.” The Imperial said as he gave a courteous smile. He moved the glass of wine that he was carrying to his left hand and extended to Lucian his right, “It is my pleasure meeting you. To think that we are looking for the same relic!”
“I agree.” Lucian said but not shaking the man’s hand. Lucian had already hurt himself once before by being completely honest so he was going to carry himself to the letter. As that letter meant not shaking hands with those not of the same Noble rank, he would do so.
The man carried his smile in stride and took away his hand. He had likely grown dull to all his attempts at introductions failing just like that one, for no one was going to shake hands with someone like him. Not unless they knew for certain he was someone of equal rank to them.
“If you do not mind me asking, why are you looking for my family relic?” The Nobleman asked as he gave as charming a smile as he could muster.
“We were made aware of its presence a few days ago.” Lucian said as he presented a hand towards Adok, “Adok here was going to look at it and make sure it was not dangerous. Such weapons are not to be taken so lightly, especially when wielded by a Grave Guard.”
