After he had left his study, you stood up and went to check the large bookshelf with all sorts of folders and ledgers in it. You didn't get to browse them for that long when the door opened into the study.

"Alric told me that you needed my help?" Taretha Foxton asked you as she stepped back in.

"Yes, I'm looking for the folder with all the window expenses." You said to her and looked at her. Her long blue dress did very little to hide her pregnancy and you could see how carefully she walked with such a big baby bump.

"You are looking at the wrong bookshelf." Taretha Foxton said and immediately knew what ledger you were looking for. "Are there any issues with the windows?"

"We have a hunch that the window merchant in Southshore might be swindling us for some coin, if we can get a proof it it, the local merchants guild should handle the rest." You told her and continued. "We aren't talking about much coin, but these things are better to put to stop as soon as possible."

"Then I wish you luck in finding the discrepancies. And if you need help, well I'm here." Taretha replied to you.

"Thank you Miss Foxton." You said and nodded in acknowledgement.

"Just call me Tari like everyone else here does." Tari said back with a smile.

"Of course, I will leave you then. The meeting should happen shortly." You said to her and prepared to leave the study with what you had been looking for in your hands. Miss Foxton… Tari is always so helpful, but you didn't think you had anything else on your mind.

The winter had just pretended to ease up, as the cold spell of the last few days said otherwise. Stiff winds from the mountains had picked up snow and threw it around Dawnholme as people huddled back inside their homes and little to no work was accomplished outside.

You pulled your orange cloak tighter around you and hurried your steps as you were returning back to Alric's homestead from visiting your parents. Every couple days you would take leftovers, with Maura's permission, and bring them to your parents. Your mother had found a job as a housekeeper that didn't pay that well and your father was still unemployed. There had been a good opportunity for him starting as an assistant to the foreman, but since he was arrested the hopes had vanished.

Greeting the poor city guard who stood outside the house in the stiff wind, you pushed the door open before shaking off what remained of the snow.

"Good morning Taretha." Normand Garside said. He was doing some of his work by the large table downstairs. "Alric said that he wanted to see you."

"Good morning Normand. I will go see him after I get my clothes to dry." You said to him.

"Oh and the next time you go see your parents, can you tell your father to come see me?" Normand asked back.

"I can." You said and thought why would Normand want to see Tannis? To ask about Blackmoore or something else? You knew that Normand didn't trust Blackmoore at all and who else to ask about him other than father who had served as his aide for nearly 20 years.

Someone else has put a fire into the hearth, allowing you to spread your cloak and winter clothes in front of it before taking the stairs up. Knocking the door, you entered the study.

"Alric, you wanted to talk?" You asked him.

Alric was sitting behind his desk doing his paperwork. From the wrinkles in his clothes and a bit messy hair, it was apparent that he hadn't taken the time to clean up after the morning sparring you knew he did every day.

"Take a seat." Alric said and didn't lift his head from the paper he was working on.

Ahh, this wasn’t your good close friend Alric you were talking to, but Prince Alric who had his duties and tasks to accomplish.

"What are you writing?" You asked as you sat down and ran your hand through your hair.

"There was an accident in the silver mine, a minecart got loose and injured three workers. By the Alteraci mining laws, precious metals are considered of strategic importance and days missed due to injuries suffered during the work will be compensated." Alric explained to you as he kept writing. "Thankfully only broken bones and bruises, but we need to have everything written down."

"Thank the Light no one died." You said with relief in your voice.

"Dangers of being a miner I am afraid." Alric said and put his quill away. "There, one done and two to go."
