While you've never felt like you've belonged in this City, this house has treated you well. You look out the window from the last time, examining the Tower that's not really on the other side of the partition wall. For most of your life, you chose to keep that place out of your sight. But after partnering up with Phascomon, you've forced your window's point of view to reflect that horrid beacon, so you could always remember your goal.
You're 29 floors up, and your current view actually belongs to one of your neighbors who you've never spoken to. You flick through your apartment controls and turn off the window, watching as purple curtains draw themselves across the panel. You glance around, taking in the rest of the detailing.
Your partner has made some changes to the place, and once you had someone to share it with, you naturally ended up moving things around as well. The artificial foliage and smooth marble is beloved by the both of you, and when he's not napping in your room or the Digivice tree, he's loved clinging to the support pillars near the edges. And of course, the TV pit most of all. Before you turn the news off, you hesitate, then flick through the channels to find his favorite show.
That gangster movie is on. The one he wanted to get home to watch. He's going to miss it, and you can't even tape it for him, since you'll be gone. You shut the television off with a sigh.
You no longer feel any bitterness towards this place. Having a friend by your side has filled it with life, that's now about to be drained clean. You wonder how the next inhabitant will treat this place once the inside is completely wiped.
As you set your hand on the exit portal, you hesitate just long enough to turn around and take a photo of the interior. It's for nobody's eyes but your own. Just one little bit closure you're trying to wring out, now that you're abandoning your home.
"So long..." You say to nobody. And then you're out the door forever.
