With the commander calling a momentary ceasefire then, you and every other person able to wield a lasgun gather to the barricade. Though this was done to ready for the plan it does serve to embolden the Orks as well, some even returning from the engine and hangar ways to investigate.
<span class="mu-s">"Ahora!"</span>
Though it only is some moments, and at the barked command a storm of las fire is unleashed from the barricade. A decent volley in its own right, though a few Orks fall to the concentrated fire the true purpose is to provide a cover for the volunteers to rush beyond the barricade and make for the bolter. Thankfully the plan succeeds enough at least for that, as the four guardsmen reach and uncouple the heavy weapon from the carriage. By the time they get to hauling it back however, the Orks have regrouped themselves and countered with their own attack. Having to prioritize the ones charging to melee, more than a few return fire with their crude weapons and the volunteers make for an easy target.
<span class="mu-b">"-no! Rust it all!"</span>
One of whom is hit by fire and in his wounded fall, compromises the carrying effort. Maybe unwisely but in your own panic at losing the weapon, you vault over the barricade and rush to pick up the slack, as well as using your servo-arm to grab the wounded soldier and drag him as well. Already the carrying effort had made it over halfway back so fortunately you manage to help the rest of the way quickly enough to avoid much further harm.
After that well, much cheer from the survivors and optimism for retrieving the bolter. Though you must first sanctify the weapon which isn't easy when others keep jostling and patting you in support. To alight your censer and call forth the machine-spirit in preparation.
<span class="mu-b">"Come back to me now, holy spirit. No longer abandoned, I have been sent by your Father to return you to the divine choir. Come holy spirit, I pray thee your song."</span>
Such meticulous effort and undertaken amid battle, as shots and shrapnel fly all about you with screams to match. But for the sake of this divine instrument, the response when you equip it with your servo-arm and a guardsman loads an ammo box from their meager pile of retreated supplies a ways back from the barricade. The heavy bolter cycles beautifully, for you to heft it atop the barricade. No easy feat for its weight (when already your servo-system is such a weight upon you) but with the help of others you position the weapon to aim for it's holy purpose.
The all-relentless thunder.
