>>5596684Even from this distance, you can see the loathing on Hypatia’s face. Evidently working under this Sage is a taxing endeavor. Hypatia sheathes her Sleep stave to retrieve an additional unknown staff that had been strapped on her back. Summoning the magic from within her Silence staff, this time her target is Lysithea. The tiny girl can only utter a quick gasp as her voice is stolen by the weapon. Even with her dual crests, she’ll be powerless to act without the use of her magic.
The second staff that Hypatia raises to the sky is a crimson shade of red. Pointing it forward, you’re unsure what exactly it’s supposed to be, until suddenly Scratch screams and begins clutching her head.
“Hey, are you okay?” Clay puts a hand on her shoulder only to be thrown back into Theo by a single swipe from the bandit.
“I recognize this magic!” Damian shouts, panic in his voice. “She’s been berserked!”
That wasn’t good. You remember your last encounter with a berserked warrior. Mina’s dance had pushed that man’s abilities well passed their normal limit. Even the normally impregnable Sebastian had a difficult time contending with him. And now, not only was the victim in question one of your allies, but it was someone who wielded a Crest that allowed her to rip her enemies into pieces with just her bare hands. You move to shout to the others to stay away from Scratch, but the only thing that comes from your mouth is a horrible rattle as you’re still unable to speak due to the effects of Silence.
“S-stay back! I’m warning you!” Scratch swipes at invisible enemies only she sees as the others give her a wide berth.
“W-wait! I can totally get her to calm down!” Mina shouts. That’s right, she could. Mina possessed the ability to lull enemies into a slumber with a special dance she could perform. Allegedly, at least. You’d never seen it actually work yourself. In fact, the last time she tried to do this was the same time you’d ended up fighting that berserked mercenary. The girl had trouble concentrating under stressful circumstances, and right now you were struggling to think of how this could get any more stressful. Should she fail again, there was a possibility this situation could grow all the worse. She looks at you desperately for approval of her plan. You figure you’d better give her an answer soon, as behind you, you’re able to hear the sound of glass shattering and more Mogalls making their move.
