"Dummkopf!" Adelheid's volume jumps several notches, although there's more exasperation in it than real anger. "Supplying your own needs is an admirable thing, but only when you actually have the resources! What will you do when your pocket money runs out, go downstairs and take up work as a cocktail waitress?"
"Perhaps I shall! To shrink from any challenge would sully the honor of the Edelfelt name! Of course I would normally never work for money, but this is an extraordinary circumstance!" Truvietianne reacts as if goaded, her own volume rising to match Adelheid's. She certainly is angry, but there's something of the petulant child there too, the kind that will pick up and run with any absurdity just to carry on an argument and spite their parents.
"The 'challenge' is to sully your honor, you witless cow!" You can almost hear Adelheid rolling her eyes. "How would it reflect on your precious family name to saunter around in a skimpy leotard, serving cocktails to drunks and letting them paw at you while you take their orders?"
"I-I don't believe the customers down there are allowed to touch the waitresses... are they?" That mental image seems to have taken the wind out of Truvietianne's sails a bit. For that matter, it gives you some pause as well. What kind of establishment are those two rooming above, anyway? Of course, it is Kabukicho.
"Are there any brains in that skull of yours, or is it filled with stuffing?" As her opponent falters, Adelheid only seems to be picking up steam. "Of course such things are 'against the rules' in this kind of establishment, but the clientele isn't expected to remain sober. Listen, hare-brain, and try to learn something. Alcohol gives the men drinking in a place like this the excuse to make 'mistakes', and the management, knowing that a happy customer will go on ordering drink after drink at their exorbitant prices, they smile and overlook the customers' little peccadilloes. If the waitress herself reacts to being pinched or groped by giving the lecher a slap, that girl will soon find herself looking for another job. That is why you should not have found lodgings above a cabaret in the first place, to say nothing of actually taking a job there!"
"Well... well... I did need to find a room on short notice!" Truvietianne sounds as if she's on the verge of tears, but the girl is still trying to put of a fight. "And we have to make some money somehow!"
"Girl, will you listen to me for one solitary second? Find some mage in this city who knows of your family's reputation and has no involvement in the Holy Grail War, prevail on them for room and board, and swear your family will repay them. As simple as that, our problem will be solved!"
"I won't do it! I'd be dragging the Edelfelt name through the mud!"
