>>6059919So, gotham city beat cop! Made my way through the first two threads- I'll definitely finish later (and maybe drop an amended review after) but I have many to get through so I'll stop here for now.
Picrel is a doodle related to the quest by the way- it involves minor spoilers so I've spoilered it out.
Let's start with the good- which makes up most of the quest. The characterization is very fun and, when a canon character makes an appearance, is very true to the originals- or at least some incarnation of them. The action scenes are also well written, and you seem to have a very solid grasp on which details to include and which not to.
The mystery/cop thriller elements are also well handled, and there's a genuine sense of intrigue as you read that isn't spoiled by knowing canon info like Harvey's inner demons or Batman's real identity.
Most of the negative points are both pretty minor and get better as the threads go on. The first is dialogue based- a lot of the characters, despite having very blue-collar mannerisms and personalities- slip into odd lack of contractions in a way that comes across as overly formal or, more accurately, a bit ESL. For example, a character may introduce themselves as, "I am John smith, your coworker" as opposed to "I'm..." "My name is..." or simply just introducing themselves with a name without a sentence, like "John Smith, nice to meet you."
Speaking on prose, the second is occasional lack of punctuation in places where it disrupts the flow or makes things ambiguous sans context. I'm a bit heavyhanded on the commas, but sometimes you gotta use them to avoid run-ons or indicate pauses in transcribed speech.
These are, of course, pretty minor nitpicks. The quest is excellent, and the first threads are definitely better handled than my early work is. I'll definitely be coming back to finish after I work through everything
